Hi my name is Vanessa, the proud founder and owner of The Knotary. I created The Knotary after realizing how challenging (and awkward) it can be to find a marriage commissioner who aligns with your values. I figured there must be a better way to find a marriage commissioner rather than cold calling a bunch of strangers. Thus, The Knotary was born: a safe and welcoming space for everyone, where you can learn more about my values, what I stand for, and what I’m like, before you contact me.

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and this beautiful place I call home has not only shaped my sense of community but has also fueled my passion for helping others. My professional career spans over 15 Years as a Human Resources Consultant in the public sector, and throughout that time, I’ve gained valuable experience in engaging with diverse groups, facilitating meaningful conversations, and honing my public speaking skills. While being a marriage commissioner and notary isn’t my full-time career, it’s something I truly enjoy doing on the side. It allows me to give back to the community by ensuring that couples have a commissioner who shares and upholds values that support and celebrate diversity. For me, it's not just about officiating weddings; it’s about fostering a sense of inclusion, making sure you feel celebrated, and ensuring your wedding day reflects your unique love story.
